Linen bed linen - the sustainable natural fabric for your bedroom

Your bedroom is a place to rest and relax. Linen bed linen gives it a natural look and a relaxed atmosphere. But what actually makes linen such a special material?

Why linen bedding?

Linen fabric is the oldest of all fabrics. But not only in past times the high quality and the advantageous properties of the substance appreciated. In recent years, linen has also made a comeback in the bedroom - and with good reason: the natural fabric has become increasingly popular in recent years, as linen has many advantages that synthetic and other natural fabrics cannot match. Made from flax fibers, this extremely robust yet soft fabric is breathable, cozy and season-independent. However, as linen is slightly more expensive than other materials, you may be asking yourself: "Will linen bedding really last longer than other bedding?" The answer is clear: yes, linen bedding is incredibly durable - often for a decade or more with good care.

What are the properties and features of linen bedding?
It is not only its heat-regulating and breathable properties that make linen bed linen a popular fabric. Because of its relaxed, crumpled appearance, linen is also often used for decorative purposes such as cushions because this special feature is part of its beauty. Linen bed linen fits perfectly into concepts such as slow living or Wabi-Sabi where imperfection, imperfection and naturalness are celebrated and appreciated.

Linen is particularly resource-friendly. No fertilizers, pesticides or additional irrigation are needed to grow the flax plant. In fact, only about a quarter as much water is used for the production of linen as for conventional cotton.

Is linen bedding only for the summer?

Cooling in summer and warming in winter - that's how linen bed linen is often described, but why is that? Linen bed linen allows your skin to breathe and can absorb up to 20% of its own weight in moisture before the material feels wet. If you sweat in summer, the fabric transports the moisture away from your body and allows it to evaporate. This keeps your skin pleasantly dry in summer and the fabric develops its cooling effect. In winter, on the other hand, linen bed linen retains your body heat and ensures pleasantly warm nights.

Is linen bedding suitable for allergy sufferers?

Linen bed linen releases absorbed moisture quickly so that no bacteria or other allergens can collect in the fibers. The fabric is therefore ideal for allergy sufferers and people with sensitive skin. Linen is also antistatic. This means that the natural fabric does not become electrically charged, as is often the case with synthetic fabrics.

What is the best way to care for and wash linen bedding?

Proper care is crucial to preserving the longevity and relaxed beauty of linen. Our linen bedding can easily be washed in the washing machine at up to 60°C and will not shrink. However, we recommend washing your bed linen at 40 degrees, as textiles are hygienically clean even at 40 degrees with the right detergent. The fibers are also protected and you use less energy.

Please be sure to use a mild detergent without bleaching agents so that you can enjoy your linen bedding for many years to come. The following tip is particularly important for modern washing machines that wash with extremely little water: Linen bed linen likes a lot of moisture and space in the machine. It is best to wash your bed linen on a delicate cycle and spin at a maximum of 600 revolutions per minute. Only load the washing machine drum half full. Your laundry will crease much less this way. Linen bed linen should generally not be tumble dried. The best way to dry linen is in the fresh air.
