Linen bed linen - the sustainable natural fabric for your bedroom

Your bedroom is a place to rest and relax. Withlinen bedding, you not only give it a relaxed and natural look, but you also get a durable and sustainable natural fabric with excellent properties that guarantee a perfectly temperature-regulated sleep.

What is so special about linen bedding?

Linen has been making a comeback in the bedroom in recent years - and with good reason: linen bed linen has many advantages that synthetic and other natural fabrics cannot match. Linen regulates temperature, is particularly breathable and is excellent at wicking away moisture. Linen is also very robust and incredibly durable - often for a decade or more with good care.

What are the properties and features of linen bedding?

It’s not just its temperature-regulating and breathable properties that make linen bedding a popular choice. Because of its natural and relaxed look, linen is often used for decorative purposes as well, since it is precisely this characteristic that contributes to its beauty. Here, linen bedding fits perfectly into concepts like Slow Living or Wabi-Sabi, where imperfection and naturalness are celebrated and valued.

Linen bed linen - the sustainable alternative

The good is often very close. If you are opting for a more conscious lifestyle, linen is the perfect bedding choice, as it is the only fabric that can be produced 100% in Europe, from cultivation to product. However, linen not only scores points for its regionality, its cultivation is also particularly resource-friendly: no fertilizers, pesticides or additional irrigation are required to grow the flax plant. In fact, only around a quarter as much water is used to produce linen as for conventional cotton. This makes linen bed linen an incredibly sustainable product.

Is linen bedding only for the summer?

Cooling in summer and warming in winter - that's how linen bed linen is often described, but why is that? Linen bed linen allows your skin to breathe and can absorb up to 20% of its own weight in moisture before the material feels wet. If you sweat in summer, the fabric transports the moisture away from your body and allows it to evaporate. This keeps your skin pleasantly dry in summer and the fabric has a cooling effect. In winter, on the other hand, linen bed linen retains your body heat and ensures pleasantly warm, cozy nights. Linen is therefore the ideal choice for all seasons. It has a temperature-regulating effect in both summer and winter and feels pleasantly soft on the skin.

Linen bed linen: the ideal natural fabric for allergy sufferers

Linen bedding is the ideal natural fabric for people with allergies, because it quickly releases absorbed moisture, preventing bacteria or other allergens from accumulating in the fibers. Linen bedding is not only excellent for people with allergies but also for children and those with sensitive skin. In addition, linen is antistatic. This means that, unlike synthetic fabrics, this natural material does not build up static electricity.

What colors are best for the bedroom?

The bedroom is a place to relax and unwind. That is why we have deliberately opted for natural and restrained color schemes when designing our linen bed linen: beige-striped, grey-striped and classic white go with any style of furnishing and convey a sense of calm and grounding.

What is the best way to care for and wash linen bedding?

Proper care is essential for maintaining the longevity of linen bedding. Our linen bedding can be safely machine-washed at temperatures up to 60°C and will not shrink. However, we recommend washing your bedding at 40 degrees, as textiles become hygienically clean even at 40 degrees when washed with the right detergent. This also protects the fibers and helps you conserve energy. Be sure to use a gentle detergent without bleach so you can enjoy your linen bedding for many years to come. For modern washing machines that use very little water, here’s an important tip: Linen bedding thrives on plenty of moisture and space in the machine. It’s best to wash your bedding on the gentle cycle and spin it at a maximum of 600 revolutions per minute. Fill the washing machine drum only halfway. This way, your laundry will also wrinkle much less. Linen bedding generally shouldn’t go in the dryer. It’s best to air-dry linen outdoors.
