Each cushion is made by a group of talented women in Nagaland, India, who have perfected the art of backstrap weaving over centuries. The geometric, traditional yet completely contemporary shapes of the Naga weavings show their allegiance to one of the 16 hill tribes in distinctive patterns and motifs. This cushion is woven by hand and takes a whole day to complete.
All products are made in a fair trade environment from start to finish.
The Nagas have proven their glorious past and history as warriors. Mysteries still surround the people, their tribes and practices in what is still a very pristine part of India. We help the women to continue their traditional heritage by providing them with employment at their doorstep and a secure, fair income.
