Woven Malawi furniture from rattan

Our Malawi chairs, benches and mirrors are fairly and sustainably handcrafted with a natural, yet incredibly detailed look from local Malawi Rattan - a fast-growing reed from the shores of Lake Malawi.

Each Malawi Chair, Malawi Bench and Malawi Mirror are woven with a great sense of cultural tradition. The art of cane weaving is passed down from generation to generation, and it takes an experienced man up to 5 days to make one chair. No glue or other tools are used in the making process. Instead special tight knots tied to guarantee the durability and outstanding quality.

Our producers are small farmers from a local cooperative who weave outside the planting and harvesting season. The weaving work provides the artisans with a sustainable income that allows them to feed their families while preserving their cultural heritage.
